Mangaluru: B M ‘Chetan’ Machaiah (24), an engineer of Kodagu origin residing in the city, died in a tragic road mishap in Bengaluru on Sunday.
He was the only son of ex-Serviceman B M Muthanna, working as a security officer at Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) here. They live in Shivashakti Nagar in Hosabettu near Suratkal.
An alumnus of Canara College of Engineering in Benjanapadavu in BE Mechanical stream, he had joined IBM in Bengaluru only six months ago.
While driving with his friends on the NICE corridor on Sunday morning, his car crashed. He is said to have died on the way to the hospital. His friends in the car sustained minor injuries.
His body was brought to the city and the final rites were held in the Hindu crematorium in Suratkal on Monday.
