Mangaluru: Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khadar held a press meet at the Circuit house here on December 30.
Addressing the mediapersons Khader said that the union minister D V Sadananda Gowda blaming the state government for the failure of not acting on the blast in Bengaluru is baseless. We cannot advise a senior leader but he should understand the situation instead of blaming the state government. In such cases we should not play politics, instead we need to work together and find out the culprits behind the blast, we need to fight unitedly and see that the culprits are severely punished.
Six months ago, we had appointed staff to identify the non-communicable diseases (NCD) and their salaries were pending. We have cleared all their files and the salaries will be paid before 1 January 2015.
He also said that the health ministry is planning to launch air ambulances as well as bike ambulances. The health ministry has approved 30 bike ambulances, out of which 10 bike ambulances will start working from January end in Bengaluru, Mangaluru and other districts. If the Bike ambulances will be successful we will implement the bike ambulance facilities in other districts too.
He further said that the air ambulances which are like mini hospitals fully equiped to treat patients until they reach the hospital will be launched. As a corporate social responsibility, we will invite companies for discussion, because it is not possible for the government alone to start the Air (helicopter) ambulance. By October or November 2015, the Air ambulance will be launched. Already three teams have come forward to provide air ambulance services, we need support from other companies to start the same. We will collect the amount from the companies as Corpus Fund and utilize it for three months. If the project succeeds, government will help in continuing the air ambulance services by providing license and other help. To run the air ambulances we also need the support of the public as well as the police department since there may be a need for the air ambulance to land on the road during emergency for which there should be ‘0’ traffic on the road for smooth and safe operation. The air ambulance is not only for accident purpose, it can be used during emergency service too.
Medical science and technology should go together, if the helicopter will lift the patient from the spot and start the procedure without wasting time we can save many lives. Quality will be our priority and procurement should be done immediately.
He also announced the inauguration of 24X7 pharmacy at Wenlock Hospital on January 7, 2015.
