Mangaluru: Sixtysix-year-old Ibrahim Kodijal, currently ad-interim president of the DK district Congress committee, has been appointed chairperson of the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority.
An order to this effect has been issued by the state government on Wednesday. He will hold the office for 18 months or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Born as the son of the late Sufikunhi in Kodijal near Konaje, he has been an active Congress member since 1969 and has a long record of serving the party for 46 years. Besides having served various posts in the party, he has been holding the interim charge of the president of the DCC after Bantwal MLA vacated it after being appointed a minister.
He has also been holding various posts in DK and Udupi districts’ Muslim Central Committee, Jamiyat-ul-Falah organization, All India Milli Council, as correspondent of Green View School in Adkarepadpu Konaje and president of the Kodijal Juma mosque committee. He was also mandal pradhan of Konaje from 1987 to 1992.
