On the occasion, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Union minister and presently MLA of Chikkaballapur M Veerappa Moily  inaugurated the Ivory Tower and unveiled the  silver jubilee logo of Mohtisham. Coral Apartment was inaugurated by R V Deshpande.

Addressing the gathering,  M Veerappa Moily said that for any development to take place, we need to change our mindset. “People should be broadminded. If you are backward in the mind, this region will not prosper. When we wanted to start MRPL, people opposed it; but today, you can see the development of the city due to this plant. The Vijayanagar steel plant which was after much opposition, even after 31 years is very successful.”

He further said, “After visiting the Silicon Valley in San Francisco, I thought of having a Silicon Valley in Karnataka but people started to laugh at me. But now across the Tamilnadu border in Anekal taluk, we have acquired a large amount of land that exceeds the target area of Silicon Valley of San Francisco. The entire world is looking towards Karnataka.”

Unless we change our mindset, development is not possible. He congratulated Mohtisham team for always taking the next step forward. “Let us think about the next step. Arshad and his team have taken the next step and succeeded in their venture of developing Mangaluru city. Now, the city is more vibrant. The housing sector is also picking up. The real estate regulatory bill has been passed and we hope to reduce red tapism when the bill is implemented. In 5 years, the real estate sector will surely boom.”

Minister for Higher education and tourism R V Deshpande congratulated Motisham for completing 25 years. He further said, “The real estate industry has been through thick and thin times. Now with decreasing inflation, this industry has the brightest future. I’ve seen many high-storey buildings coming up. Developmental works need to be planned. The quality of the work done on this building is excellent. Mangaluru has a history; it is a city of great leaders and visionaries, and is a city of pride for the entire country. And hence, a request has been made to the Urban Ministry by the Ministry of Karnataka to sanction Mangaluru as a smart city. Now the ball is in the court of the opposition.” He urged MLC Ganesh Karnik to request the Prime Minister to approve the project of making Mangaluru a smart city.

He also said, “I don’t indulge in red tapism, we should all be committed towards our duties.” He further said that infrastructure is the key to economic and social development. “The state government will not leave any stone untouched to make Mangaluru a smart city. In development work, we should not bring politics; instead, we need to join our hands and work for the welfare of the people and the city.”

MLA Moideen Bava, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, former District minister in-charge Krishna J Palemar, former Minister B A Moideen, Chancellor of Yenepoya University Abdulla Kunhi, Mayor Mahabala Marla and others were present.
