Mangaluru is Mini India and Hub of Harmony – Vipul Kumar during Peace Meeting
Mangaluru: “We will take strict action against those who forward messages which will hurt the sentiments of the people through the social media. If anyone forwards such messages it is considered as a violation and suitable action will be taken against them. Mangaluru is mini India and hub of Harmony since I have seen people from all faiths working together during the elections. This shows that people want peace and harmony in the society”, said Police commissioner Vipul Kumar during the peace meeting held at the Commissioner’s office here on June 13.
One of the participants in the peace meeting said, “The police should take strict action against those who post inciting messages and photos on the social media”.
Vipul Kumar responded and said, “We have already arrested the accused in two such cases and are now creating awareness through the social media”.
K M Mohammed Ibrahim said, “In Dakshina Kannada, people are living in harmony but in Kannur and Adyarpadav miscreants had recently pelted stones on Mosque. Such incidents should not occur in these areas. The police should install CCTV cameras to trace those indulging in such activities”.
Vipul Kumar responded and said, “We will consider your suggestion and take necessary measures to avoid such incidents reoccurring.”
Gerald Towers said, “The Police commissioner has appreciated Mangaluru and the people here but at the same time there are some misunderstandings between the people of different communities which should be solved. We should also use some of the good slogans in Mangaluru to create brotherhood and harmony”.
Another participant said, “If anyone visits Dakshina Kannada personally, they will come to know that people in the district are living in peace and harmony. But some of the media is giving wrong news to the people. The police should restrict such news.
Vipul Kumar said, “I am sure that our police are giving 100% service to the people. If any of the police are purposely committing mistakes, people should bring it to the notice of the higher authorities”.
The peace meetings should not be limited only during the festivals but should be held regularly, urged the participants.
Vipul Kumar said, “We will take your suggestions seriously and act accordingly.”
DCP Hanumantharaya, ACPs Jagadish, Rajendra and Manjunath and others were also present.
