Mangaluru is Peaceful – ADGP Kamal Pant During Media Interaction at Police Commissionerate
Mangaluru: The Additional Director General of Police Kamal Pant visited the Police commissionerate and interacted with Journalists at the Police commissionerate office here on August 30.
During the interaction, ADGP Kamal Pant said, “I visited Mangaluru and participated in the 1st meeting held by ONGC to discuss onshore security. The state government has to play a crucial role in onshore security.”
Kamal Pant further said, “The situation in Mangaluru is very peaceful, I have come here to review the law and order situation. The review meeting will be held once in 6 months. Whatever issues discussed during the ONGC meeting have been recorded and documented”.
When asked about the issue of sand mining which is of major concern in DK, ADGP Kamal said, “The Police are taking action against the sand miners. The public should co-operate with the police in curbing sand mining”.
When asked about the police strength being very low in DK, Kamal Pant said, “When the CM had visited Bhatkal we had discussed on increasing police personnel in every police station. We need to follow certain criteria to appoint police force to the particular police stations according to the Dharamvir Commission.”
When asked about the drug menace in DK, Kamal Pant said, “We have taken the drug menace very seriously and the Deputy CM is also very serious in curbing the drug menace. Drug selling and trafficking are very important subjects. It is a matter of concern, we are very serious about the drug menace which should be curbed.”
When asked about police personnel serving for a long time without any transfer in Dakshina Kannada, Kamal Pant said, “Sometimes new officers are not willing to come here and those who are here are being rotated. This problem is not only in Mangaluru, the same situation is in Belgaum and Bengaluru.”
Commenting on the death of Shiroor Swamiji, Kamal Pant said, “The FSL report has been received and the investigation is on. The doctors at KMC had done the post-mortem at the same time the forensic experts’ team had also done their investigations. The FSL has the toxicology department, they will synchronize both the reports before coming to a conclusion.
When asked if police officers Ganesh Gowda and Manjunath be rewarded for their exemplary service in rescuing a number of people during the landslides in Jodupalya? Kamal Pant said, “Yes, we have already rewarded them because they have done a very good job by involving themselves in the rescue operations in their capacity without waiting for directions from their higher officers. They have done a good job without any publicity which is a very good job on the part of the police. People from Dakshina Kannada have also helped in rescue operations.”
Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashant, SP Dr Ravikanthe Gowda and others were also present.
