Mangaluru: There was strong objection from the BJP and Sangh Parivar to ban Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik from entering the city to address the public gathering on January 2. Various BJP leaders handed over memorandums to the Police commissioner to ban Dr Zakir Naik from entering Mangaluru.

The Sangh Parivar also threatened that if Dr Zakir comes to Mangaluru and hurts the sentiments of Hindus, there will be violence in the district. To avoid any untoward incidents in the district, the concerned authorities should take the request seriously.Inspite of our demands, if Zakir Naik comes to Mangaluru and if any untoward incidents take place, the district administration and the government will be directly held responsible.

VHP leader Murali in a press meet said, “The administration should not give permission for any programme featuring such a controversial figure. If the administration gives permission to Dr Zakir Naik to speak on January 2, we will organize a HinduSamajotsava headed by Praveen Togadia on the same day as a mark of protest.”

For the safety and security of the people in the district, the police commissioner Murugan has imposed a ban on Dr Zakir Naik from entering the city under section 144 for the period of one week from December 31 to 6 January.

Dear readers, The Mangalore police has once again confirmed what the ‘Cobrapost’ exposed in sting operation. It is one of the classic example of ‘intolerance’ set by the law enforcement department. Why the same law is not applicable to Cancer Togadia, Sadhvi Balika,Pramod Mutalik,Parmanand swami …? Do the VHP and Bajrang Dal has given written guarantee to organise any event in the past without untoward incident and hate speeches? The Police department,District commissioner has once again submitted to the language of threat used by the saffron fundamentalist. Why the commissioner has not booked the case against saffron leaders who are… Read more »

This is WRONG!! This is a slippery slope!! Where do we stop? It was Mr.Togadia in the past. It is Mr.Zakir Naik’s turn now. Who next? And, also what do they mean by ‘hurting religious sentiments’? This is a total bogus and we are moving in a wrong direction. If Mr.Naik has done any illegal things or encouraged violence, then it is a much bigger discussion. In that case, Indian govt can take legal action against him. But, what’s the point in restricting his movements in his own country when he is not proven guilty in court?? I wish we… Read more »

Original R.Pai – “If Mr.Naik has done any illegal things or encouraged violence, then it is a much bigger discussion.”

RSS Paimaam would have been immensely pleased if Mr.Zakir Naik would be allowed to make infuriating speeches in the vulnerable coastal belt of Karnataka and added more and more Hindus to the pockets of the BJP. If any violence took place as a result, RSS would get what they pray for!

The last thing we need in Mangalore is a guy to show his expertise in old books and convince his God is true and al the rest are false. Let Mangalore welcome anyone who promote love and unity, tolerance and nobility. The world already knows the falsehood of terror and hatred inspiring gods and one true living God who inspires nothing but love and kindness.

I find religious fanatics coming and giving lectures and sermons to people who are naive and gullible, be it Dr. Zakir Naik, Praveen Tongadia, Pramod Muthalik, Benny Hines and others as disgusting and repulsive. They do it to brainwash masses or because they have a hidden agenda or to keep themselves gainfully employed. Dr. Zakir Naik, I am told, is a medical doctor by profession. So, why does he not pursue his profession and serve people, rather than indulging in this religious humbug? I wonder how much money does Dr. Naik make in delivering sermons, stressing on the superiority of… Read more »

“Today ‘Dilwale’ has crossed Rs.1 billion mark. But in tolerant Mangalore you need to ‘Police protection’ .”

This could be right as per Deoband news, but in actual it is a flop show!!

If it crosses 1 billon Rs mark then the money may be flowing in from Underworld !

Dr. Zakir Naik, I am told, is a medical doctor by profession. So, why does he not pursue his profession and serve people, rather than indulging in this religious humbug?-Mr.Nelson Lewis Sir, Though Dr.Zakir Naik is Doctor in professional he never indulge in hate speeches. The many lectures which he delivered is related to comparative religion. Everyone love his religion by birth. If one try to educate through his/her own religious scripture it won’t be objectionable. It is open to public of all donation they received to run his own Channels. If he is greed of money he would have… Read more »

This is s very good decision to ban anyone who gives hate speeches against other religions. Zakir naik says against democracy and secular state and this is right in police commissioner exercising his ban. The government and the state must be respected and state should handle these elements with an iron hand. Else india will also become like Syria and Yemen. Let people practise religion in their homes. When they come outside the house, they should be only Indians. We wish the state and government keeps up the good efficient work and politicians like nail and Bawa should be booted… Read more »
