Mangaluru: The inaugural of a job and skill training camp was held under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a Govt. of India, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in association with Rooman Technologies, the training partner for the National Skill Development Corporation at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, the venue partner in the campus. Hiring executives from seventy companies from IT, ITES, Retail, Banking, Telecom, Healthcare and Consulting sectors have converged at the campus. SSLC, Pre-University, graduate, postgraduate candidates aspiring for a job and skill training is getting a chance to be placed with one of these companies.
The guests were Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Mangalore, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of the Parliament, D.K, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, opposition Party Chief Whip, Karnataka Legislative Council among other dignitaries from government and Manish Kumar, CEO, Rooman Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, Training Partner, Dr Sandhya Chintala, CEO, IT/ITES Sector Skill Council and Sri N K Mohapatra, CEO, ESSCI from the industry.
Chairman Manjunath Bhandary welcomed the gathering and explained the meaning of skill. In India we give more emphasis on Academics, he said that Indians need to achieve a lot as student develop only 2% which is less compared to the skills of South Korea, Japan, China and UK. Education is just a eligibility criteria in a corporate world, along with that skills are also to be developed. He recommended the students to use skills in day-today-activities. At the end he thanked organizers, M.P Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada for providing the opportunity to conduct the job fair in Sahyadri Campus. He thanked people who worked hard for this programme.
Manish Kumar, CEO, Rooman Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru gave a brief glimpse on what the program is all about. This training mainly aims at promoting skill Development in India. We need lot of skilled manpower. Around 30 sectors have been designed and laid by sector skill council. Work is to take the requirements in India. They create job fair and they are training partners. PMKVY is offering various courses in the field of retail, banking, telecomm after the training they assure placements.
N K Mohapatra, CEO, ESSCI welcomed the dignitaries gathered. He mentioned the dreams of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is to create employment opportunities. He also mentioned the various other initiatives taken by our PM i.e skill India, Smart India, Start-up India, Make in India etc. Finally he thanked the Chairman Manjunath Bhandary and wished all the best for all the candidates.
He highlighted the main aim of this scheme that is to provide employment opportunity for 60% of the candidates every month. They create standards for job role. He explained how the concept of Make in India was introduced. He also added that this job fair opens up lots and lots of job opportunities so interested candidates must show their skills.
It’s a good opportunity for the candidates as around 70 companies from different domain such as Retail, Banking, IT, BPO are participating today. Those who are not selected they can enroll for training program by registering in online portal (www.naukari.com). He said that they have lot of requirement for skilled man power. He mentioned about the new system National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) – a competency-based framework that organizes all qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude, which is outcome based that work on Job expectation.
