Mangaluru: Kadri Police Inspector Nagaraj has been re-instated to the Kadri Police Station here, on August 11.

On July 31, a young advocate, Utham Rai, had gone to the Kadri Police Station along with his client for a fraud case investigation. Due to some misunderstanding, there was an argument between the inspector and the advocate, both alleging assault and intimidation against each other.

Later, a protest was staged outside the station premises by many advocates, including district Bar Council president S P Chengappa, demanding the immediate suspension and arrest of Inspector Nagaraj. An FIR was filed against Nagaraj at the Urva Police Station under Sections 323, 341, 504, 506, 384, 511 and 34 with an assurance that he would be arrested.

According to sources, the higher officers of the department realized that inspector Nagaraj was not guilty and revoked the suspension order and reinstated him to Kadri station. More than 17 organizations had requested the commissioner to revoke the suspension order and re-instate him since when the advocate had assaulted him he had to use minimum force. The advocates filed an FIR and protested to arrest Nagaraj under non-bailable sections and put him behind bars.”

On August 11, the Police Commissioner re-instated Nagaraj to the Kadri Police Station. After being reinstated to Kadri station, Inspector Nagaraj requested for a transfer. He will now be taking charge as Inspector of Bajpe Police Station.

Speaking to mangalorean.com President of the Mangaluru Bar council association SP Chengappa said that the bar council condemns the decision taken by the police commissioner to re-instate the inspector to Kadri police station. We will call a meeting on August 12 at the court premises and most likely protest against re-instating Nagaraj to Kadri police station. He also said that without proper investigation the commissioner has re-instated him, this is one sided justice and we will fight against it.

Good step taken by commissioner bringing back our GEM the honest and sincere officer MR TD Nagaraj, God is always there. This is a fact and guys, Please do something good. Doing all this protest in front of the station and court is not a solution other than waste of time, Truth will come out one or the other day. Example what happened to the inspector he just took a short break and resumed his duty. So guys THINK BEFORE YOU ACT.
