Mangaluru: The Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation (KLCF) and the Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund (VKSSF), World Konkani Centre (WKC) jointly organised the ‘Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarships Award Ceremony – 2015’ at T V Raman Pai Convention Hall here, on August 20.
The programme began with the song, “Amgele bas thi Konkani”. President of WKC, Basti Vaman Shenoy welcomed the gathering. A video presenting the experiences of WKC alumni was shown to the gathering, which received it with cheers and applause.
Pritham Kamath, Chief Trainer at KSHAMATA (Konkani Student’s Higher Achievement Motivation and Training Academy) gave a brief introduction on KSHAMATA’s Director of Training, M N Pai. Eminent thinker and corporate leader T V Mohandas Pai felicitated M N Pai with a garland, shawl, a book and fruits. M N Pai then addressed the gathering and adviced the students.
Thereafter, three members of the latest batch of KSHAMATA shared their experiences with the gathering and remarked on their transformation following the KSHAMATA training program.
Delivering the keynote address, T V Mohandas Pai said that even though WKC achieved two milestones under VKSSF – so far more than 5000 students were honoured, the total disbursement will exceed Rs 12 crores – it was not a great thing and any organisation could achieve it. “But what is great is that everyone who has passed out through this programme from the last two batches have been placed. They were placed because of their own merit and efforts and are role models to other students. Our wish is that those of our scholars in the pipeline should also get placed in good institutions, companies.” He also said that the organisation expected to see more entrepreneurs to come out of these programs. The scholarship initiative has entered its 6th year and this year, WKC will be disbursing more than Rs 3.5 crores in the form of scholarships. However, one shortcoming faced by the organisation every year is that they were unable to attract scholars from other regions, he added.
Certificates and scholarships were awarded to the students on the occasion by the dignitaries.
Smita Shenoy, Karan Kini and Anushree Rao compered the programme. Naresh Kini delivered the vote of thanks.
Pradeep G Pai also spoke on the occasion. Sundeep Bambolkar (Jt Managing Director of Indoco Remedies Ltd, Mumbai), Syed Khaleelur Rahman (Mentor, Anjuman Group of Institutions, Bhatkal), Jayanarayan Bhat (CEO, Raycam Ltd, United Kingdom), Prakash Pai (MD, Puzzolana Group, Hyderabad), Dayanand Pai (Chairman, KLCF) and others were present.
