Mangaluru: A KSRTC flybus service between the Kempegowda international airport and Manipal has been operating for some time now.
It has been a boon to a large number of students from distant and northern states pursuing education in Manipal, who do not have flight facilities from Mangaluru. They now find it convenient to take their flights from Bengaluru.
On popular demand, the service is being extended to Kundapur as well from September 27. The response to the Manipal service has encouraged the KSRTC to extend it to Kundapur, say KSRTC sources.
The flybus is a super-luxury, airconditioned Volvo bus with a multiaxle chassis. Its highlights are a chemical washroom, 70-channel TV entertainment, sleeper seats with artificial leather, display of forthcoming flight timings, GPS, Wi-Fi and other facilities.
The capacity is limited to 40 passengers only. At present the bus leaves Manipal at 9 pm and reaches Bengaluru airport at 6 am the next day. It has stops at Katapadi, Kaup, Padubidri, Mulki, Suratkal and Mangaluru.
The timings from Kundapur will be available when the service is introduced on Sep 27.
