Mangaluru : KSRTC ‘Flybus’ from City to B’lore International Airport starts August 20

Mangaluru : According to sources from KSRTC, the transport corporation will launch non-stop “Flybus” which will ply between Manipal and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), via Mangaluru and Udupi, where it will have halts. The service will be launched on August 20, departing both the places (Manipal and also at KIA) at 10 p.m. and reaching the destinations at around 7 a.m. the next day.

It is learnt that the fare between Udupi/ Manipal and KIA is Rs. 1,100 while between Mangaluru and KIA is Rs. 1,000. KSRTC will deploy multi-axle Volvo coaches with 40 persons seating in the Manipal/Udupi/Mangaluru route- these buses will feature artificial leather seats ample leg room for passengers, live flight timings, have GPS, Wi-Fi, entertainment system with 60 channels, pantry and chemical toilet. Total number of seats is 40.

KSRTC has decided to run the service as there are many people, including hundreds of students from Manipal and Mangaluru, who travel via KIA since there are not many direct flights from Mangaluru to North Indian destinations.

Good news for the passengers who need to connect to the international airport at Bangalore. This is especially useful for the students who can save money by avoiding going to Mangalore airport by taxi and then taking a flight to Bangalore which is not that cheap. Perhaps they should consider revising the time to 5 PM so that the passengers reach Bangalore airport by 1 or 2 am and connect to the early morning flights. Fantastic idea indeed. The more comfort in travel within India will enable people to travel and enjoy the scenic beauty of India. People have money to travel hence give them the very best and they will pay for it. That’s part of the business and part of the economy.
