Mangaluru: The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy held a press meet regarding the annual award ceremony at the Academy Office in Attavar here, on January 7.
Speaking to the mediapersons, President BA Mohammed Haneef said, “The academy has decided to honour people who have worked for the development of Beary language. After careful consideration the academy had decided to honour five such people with the awards.”
The ‘Honorary Award’ for 2015 will be awarded to, BM Haneef for Literature, Mohammed K Mata for Arts and Mohammed Ali Uchil for Culture and Organisation. ‘Dr Mohammed Doddamane Memorial Award’ will be awarded to Yakub Khader Gulwadi and ‘P Shushila Upadhyaya Memorial Award’ will be awarded to Mariyam Ismail.
The main motive of Beary academy is to reckon the rich culture and heritage of the Beary language. Today there are many emerging young talents in the community and the academy strives its best to cultivate and motivate them.The academy by creating a awareness of Beary culture, language and literature aims to accomplish its goal in overall development of Beary language to build a healthy society.
