Mangaluru: The new bus stand was inaugurated at Kankanady here on February 16.
The Mayor of the Mangaluru City Corporation Mahabala Marla along with Leena Fernandes former principal of St Aloysius evening college inaugurated the bus stand. Speaking on the occasion Mahabala Marla said, “I am very happy to inaugurate the bus stop because my Principal who taught me economics is present here. Three like minded persons had come to me three months ago to solve the bus stand problem since the buses stop on the concrete road to alight the passengers which causes traffic jam in Kankanady area”.
He further said that by inaugurating the new bus stop, buses will come and stop in the bus stop for passengers which will make the traffic flow freely in front of Ganesh Medicals and people will surely benefit.
He also said, “We have called for the tenders to build new bus stops. Once the tender are processed we will come to know the exact design of the bus stops.
Social activist Gerald Towers welcomed the gathering and Walter delivered the vote of thanks. Joseph Martis, corporator Asha D’Silva and others were also present.
