Mangaluru: Students from 8 medical colleges gathered in front of the City centre to collect funds for the Nepal Earthquake victims here on April 27.
The campaign was inaugurated by Senior congress leader Janardhan Poojary, Police commissioner S Murugan and other dignitaries in front of City centre.
Speaking to mangalorean.com U T Ifthikar Ali, Professor and Student Welfare Dean at Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust Colleges said that the fund raising campaign is held under the leadership of Dr M V Shetty. Students especially from the Paramedics department of M V Shetty, KMC, Netaji, Masood, Nitte, Sridevi Srinivas and A J Hospitals participated in the fund raising drive.
He further said that we have divided the students in 5 groups to cover 5 areas and collect funds. Students marched in a procession towards Bharat Mall, Forum Mall, Kankanady and other places. As a trust we have taken this cause and the collected amount will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund which will then be sent to Nepal.
What a noble gesture on the part of the Medical Students of various Medical Colleges in Mangalore grouping together and voicing and displaying their concern and sorrow over the earthquake tragedy of Nepal. Young men and women preparing themselves to be certified as future Doctors are already in the willing mood to help those who are distressed from the natural disaster.
