Ibrahim said that the credit camp is the first in a series of initiatives planned to encourage citizens to switch to the use of renewable energy sources with special focus on grid-connected solar roof-top systems.

“The programme will bring under one platform all the financing banks in Mangaluru Taluk, MESCOM and MNRE/MESCOM approved agencies dealing in the supply/installation of solar roof top systems,” he said.

Ibrahim further said, “Banks will be providing provisional sanction letters on-the-spot to eligible customers who visit the credit camp. Prospective customers seeking to know more about the functioning of the solar roof-top systems can also attend the presentation planned by MESCOM at the Town Hall. A help-desk is also being planned by MESCOM to guide citizens on the procedure to be followed for obtaining feasibility certificate, which is a pre-requisite for availing Bank Loans.”

“All citizens of Mangaluru Taluk are invited to visit the camp which starts at 10:00 am on February 17, 2016 and make use of this golden opportunity to avail credit for installation of roof-top solar systems. Lets join together to make Mangaluru a ‘solar’ city,” Ibrahim said.

DC Ibrahim also said that the DC’s office is producing 109 to 117 units per day, which brings a revenue of Rs 900 to 1100 per day. He said that people have opportunity to produce electricity and MESCOM will buy the electricity produced at Rs 9 per unit.

Lead district manager Raghav said that already 38 individuals have submitted their applications for the loan out of which 29 have been approved and 9 are in process.
