Mangaluru: Melroy D’Souza was elected as the president of YCS, Mangalore Diocese during the Central Council election of YCS held on Sunday, July 12, at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi. The annual general body meeting and unit office-bearers training programme of YCS were also held on the occasion.
The programme began with an invocation followed by a session on ‘Leadership and role of office-bearers’ was conducted by Norbert Misquith, Suratkal. The election of the central council was conducted by Viyon Veigas.
The newly-elected office bearers of YCS Central Council Mangaluru Diocese 2015-16 are as follows:

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General Diocese of Mangaluru, presided over the valedictory programme and James Mendonca (a well-known community leader, successful entrepreneur, social worker, and able organizer) was the Chief Guest. Fr Ronald D’Souza, director of YCS/YSM, Mangaluru Diocese, and the Central Council members were present on the dais.
President Joylin D’Souza, Shaktinagar welcomed the gathering. Secretary Jovita D’Souza briefed on the report of the year 2014-15. Fr Ronald D’Souza thanked the outgoing council for their wonderful job in the past year and the outgoing members were felicitated with memento, certificate and flower bouquets.
The oath-taking ceremony was held for the newly elected office bearers and as a symbol of handing over the responsibility, a candle was handed over to the newly elected members by the outgoing council members.
The president of the programme in his message encouraged the youth to be Christ’s torch bearers in their life. The Chief Guest James Mendonca motivated youngsters and said to grab the opportunities and become great achievers in their lives. The newly-elected president Melroy D’Souza thanked everyone for supporting him.
The valedictory programme was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr Ronald D’Souza. The entire programme was compered by Joswin Lasrado, Bajal.
