Mangaluru: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, in association with Alvas College organized the 75th All India Athletic Championship at Alva’s Campus Moodbidri here on January 16.
The sports meet was inaugurated by the Minister of Fisheries Abhaychandra Jain. Addressing the gathering Jain said that organizing an athletic meet is not an easy task. “The efforts of Mohan Alva should be commended. Now, a synthetic track is available in Moodbidri which should be utilized by the sportsmen.
Speaking on the occasion President of the Championship Mohan Alva said that the government has recognized sportsmen by organizing the sports meet and supporting them. Sportsmen should retain their sportsmen spirit and make use of the facilities.
Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University Pro K S Ravindranath hoisted the flag. Athlete Srajan administered the oath to the participants. Sportsmen Joylin Lobo, Basavaraj Horatti, Jamaluddin, K S Ashok, M R Poovamma lit the sports torch.
Universities and their coaches were felicitated on the occasion.
