Mangaluru: Minister Khader Visits Sea Eroded Areas – Assures Compensation

Mangaluru: The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader, visited the areas eroded by the sea at Ullal here, on June 24.

After visiting Kotepura, Mogaveera Patna, Kaiko, Kodi, Someshwar, Uchila and other places in Ullal, Khader spoke to the mediapersons and said that to permanently prevent sea erosion in Ullal, work is under progress for which Rs 232 crores will be spent. The work will be completed in 3 years.

He further said, “Many houses have been damaged due to heavy winds and the rise in sea level. Water has also entered inside many houses. I will visit the houses which are affected by the rains and take the information about the losses. I will also meet the state Minister for Textiles and Ports Baburao Chinchanasur and the Chief Minister to talk about the compensation.”

GP members N S Karim, Usman Kallapu, Mohammed Mukkacheri, U A Ismail, Girijabai and Razia Ibrahim were also present.

Are these houses and structures built so close to ocean legal ? Did they receive all the clearance and official approval before building houses on these areas ? Just wondering.
