Mangaluru: The Pulse polio drive was inaugurated by the district minister in-charge BRamanath Rai at the Lady Goschen hospital here on January 17.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. Ramanath Rai administered the polio drops to the infants. ZP CEO Sreevidya also brought her child for immunization against polio.
Addressing the gathering Ramanath Rai said that the World Health Organization has announced India as a Polio free country on March 27, 2014. We now have to eradicate Diphtheria too as it has been drastically decreased. We also need to take all the precautionary measures to eradicate all contagious diseases.
He further said that pulse polio drops are very much important for children upto 5 years. Every parent should immunize their child against polio.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, DC A B Ibrahim, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, ZP CEO Sreevidya, DHO Ramakrishna, DMO Dr Rajeshwari and others were also present.
