Mangaluru: Shri Nagabrahma Annapoorneshwari Kshetra, Kolya organised ‘Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava’, at Kolya Near Someshwar, here on January 30.
The Astapavithra Nagamandala Seva was performed in a grand manner under the guidance of Nagapathri Vedamoorthi Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Vasuki Subrahmanya temple, Udupi. Thousands of people attended the religious event.
From January 26, various religious rituals such as Dwadasha Nareekela Ganayaga, Pawamana Homa, Kushmanda Homa, Kalashabisheka, Ashlesha Bali, Mahapuja, Duraga Homa and Ashleshabali Homa were performed.
On January 30, the Naga Puja was held and thousands of devotees participated in the Puja. Food (Anna Santharpane) was served to all the devotees by the organizers.
Under the guidance of Negapathri Vedamoorthi Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Vasuki Subrahmanya temple, Udupi and Vedic Scholar Andala Jagadish Bhat Marakada, various cultural and religious programmes were conducted. Nagapathri Vedamoorthi Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga performed the ‘Naga Nartana Seve and Muddur Krishnaprasad Vaidya and team performed the ‘Damaru Seve’. Later ‘Prasadam’ was distributed to all the devotees.
For the Nagamandala seve, a Haseeruvani Horekanike procession was held on January 28 from Thokkottu Kallapu Naga Temple to the venue.
Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji, Spiritual leader and the founder of Art of Living inaugurated the religious meeting by lighting the traditional Lamp.
Vidyaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji – Samputa Narasimha Math Kukke Subramanya speaking on the occasion said that Nagamandala was one of the “naga aradhana prakaras” (forms of serpent worship) found in coastal Karnataka and Kerala, Coastal district of Karnataka maintained the divinity and religiousness.
Satish Shetty Gurme Presided over the programme. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Kannada Film actor Vinod Alva, district minister in-charge B Ramanath Rai, Vedamoorthy Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Bhaskar Ithal and others were also present.
One more ‘samaarambha’ where our elected officials happily show up, pose for cameras and enjoy all the special coverage and attention!! Now, I know why they don’t have any time for ‘swatchcha bhaaratha’ events!! People get what they deserve!
