Mangaluru: MLA J R Lobo visited the newly constructed Bejai Market, to review the progress, here on August 3.
After visiting the market, speaking to the mediapersons Lobo said that the work of the Bejai market is going on well as expected. “We are thinking of how the complex will be maintained, since maintenance is important and have thought of outsourcing certain aspects like generator, security, etc. The people have been expecting a market complex here from a very long time and we have been trying to complete the work as soon as possible.
He also said, “The Bejai market has been built in a unique way with all modern facilities. The market will be inaugurated on September 10.”
The complex comprises of an entire floor for vegetable vendors, fish, chicken, beef and pork vending spaces. The entire complex is being built at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
Later, he visited the Kulshekar-Kaikamba Market. “We are planning to upgrade the market and retain the Saturday market (Shanivarada Santhe) because in the city, there is only one such market where this tradition has been retained. We will acquire the old Kankanady Police Station, which is in a pathetic condition and utilize it for the market,” he said.
