Development of the Lake

The lake in front of the zoo will be developed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh under the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority. Saplings will be planted around the lake.

Lead Garden Project

“From the union government, we will be getting funds of Rs 1.44 crore for the lead garden project. The funds will be spent to plant 2500 medicinal and 230 rare plants and used for the maintenance of the plants. We will apply for more funds from the National Medicinal Plant Board and NMPT for the maintenance of the medicinal plants,” he said.

3D Planetarium

“The 3D Planetarium work will be completed within a year. At present 60% of the work has been completed. Talks are currently, being held with experts on the type of projection to be used. Many feel that it would be best to use a hybrid system, i.e., a combination of opto-mechanical and digital. We will be calling for tenders for the equipment once the projecting system is finalized,” he said.
