Addressing the gathering Nalin said, “Our aim is to stop the Yettinahole project from continuing. We will walk for four days to our destination. Today we will walk for 30 KM and there will be a stage programme at BC Road, where we will stay overnight. Tomorrow morning we will continue our walk and halt in Uppinangady. On Monday we will continue our walk and in Gundya we will have a stage programme where more than 2000 people will gather. On October 13, we will conclude our protest and more than 2000 people will join us from Sakleshpur. We will gherao the Yettinahole project construction site and show our strong objection to the project”.

He also said that our protest march will not affect the traffic as we are only creating awarenss among the people about the problems which the people of the district will face in future if the Yettinahole river will be diverted. At the same time we want the Kolar people to come to see Yettinahole and understand the situation and decide about the availability of water in Yettinahole river. He said we want the Union minister Sadananda Gowda, Chief minister Siddaramaiah, Veerappa Moily and other leaders to come to the Yettinahole spot and see the situation. The government is fooling the people of Dakshina Kannada and Kolar, he said.

Swamiji of Manila Math Sri Mohandas, Swamiji of Odiyoor Math Sri Gurudevananda, Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Math Sri Rajashekarananda and Swamiji of Kemar Math Sri Esha Vittaladasa also blessed the protest march.

Sullia MLA S Angara, former MLA Mallika Prasad Bhandary, MLC Ganesh Karnik, former MLA Krishna J Palemar, former MLA Yogish Bhat, ZP president Asha Thimappa Gowda, activit M G Hegade and others were also present.

This is why people don’t trust politicians. Same BJP leaders approved the project when they were in power. In fact, DV Sadanada Gowda proudly defended this project recently. Unfortunately, all parties are guilty of this – Yettinahole project will go on and mangaluru will have to learn how to live with less water in in nethravathi. A good lesson for mangaluru city folks who are notoriously known for ‘vote bank’ politics!!
