Mangaluru: Nine Persons Arrested in Various Cases – Derlakatte Rape Case Accused Safwan Booked under Goonda Act

Mangaluru: The Pandeshwar police have arrested 5 persons in connection with theft and chain snatching cases here on December 8. All the five were involved in various theft cases and cases have registered against them in Urva, Kavoor, Suratkal, Panambur, Mangaluru South and North police stations.

The arrested have been identified as Harris alias Chandru (24), Mohammed Shabir (24), Altaf (24), Ummer Farooq (20) and Mohammed Rafiq (29) all residents of Kasaba Bengre. All the five arrested by the Pandeshwar police are involved in 13 cases. Police have also seized 34 mobile phones, 6 two wheelers and 12 grams of gold all worth Rs 5 lakh from their possession.

The first accused Harris was involved in various theft cases and 9 cases have been registered against him in various police stations.

In Suratkal police have arrested a group involved in dacoity the arrested have been identified as Afrin (19), Sakib Husain ( 19), Naufal Hakeen (19) and Mohammed Rasheed (19), all residents of Bajpe.

On November 19, all the above four along with another group looted Rs 1.3 lakh, 4 mobile phones, clothes and watch from a man who was a tenant of Thomas D’Souza in Suratkal. On November 22, the same group looted Rs 56,000 and 7 mobile phones in Kana and Suratkal. They have also been involved in a extortion case. In Bajpe the same group stole a bike. Rs 2 lakh worth of valuables have been seized from their possession.

The accused in Derlakatte sexual assault case, Safwan has been booked under the Goonda act. Safwan was arrested and sent to Bellary Jail. He is an offender who is involved in 20 cases including assaulting a police officer on duty. He is involved in robbery, murder, rioting, attempt to murder, rape and dacoity cases.

DCP crime Dr Sanjeev Patil was also present.

Sir, That is the beauty of democracy which we inherited all these years. The RSS political wing BJP does not believes in this but only uses the Father of constitution.

I read the names over and over again. I just can’t find any common factor here. They all come from such a diverse group! Finally I agree with our media and secular groups – they were right all along. There is absolutely no link between crimes and any specific communities. smiles…
