Mangaluru: Pandeshwar Police Arrest Interstate Thief in Bike Theft Case

Mangaluru: The Pandeshwar Police have arrested an interstate thief in connection with motor cycle theft case near Mahakali Padpu Railway Gate here, on September 29.

The arrested has been identified as Ashiq alais Mohammed Rafiq (25), a native of Kasaragod.

According to the police, on September 29 at around 11:15 am, when the Pandeshwar police led by Dinaker Shetty while on patrol near Mahakalipadpu, they saw a youth trying to run away after noticing them. On suspicion, police constables followed him and succeeded in nabbing him. During interrogation, Ashiq confessed that the bike he was riding was stolen by his friend Subhash in Kerala and he had come to Mangaluru to sell it. The documents which he showed to the police belonged to another bike which was stolen in December 2014 when it was parked in front of the Hero Honda show room; a case was then registered in the Pandeshwar police station in this regard.

He also revealed that he has stolen another bike on September 10, 2015 which was parked in a compound at Kapikad. The bike which he was riding during the time of arrest was stolen from Kerala by his friend Subhash. The bike was parked in front of the Vadakkanchery theater. He had come to Mangaluru to sell the bike.

The police have seized the bike worth Rs 60,000 from his possession. Further investigation is on in this regard.
