Mangaluru: Pilikula Nisargadhama All Set for Makkala Habba

Mangaluru: The district administration held a press meet at Pilikula Nisargadhama, Moodshedde here, on November 20.

Addressing the mediapersons, DC A B Ibrahim said that the venue is all set to hold Makkala Habba on November 21. At 9:30 am, the procession will begin from the entrance of Pilikula. More than 50000 children will be taking part in Makkala Habba, and more than 400 vehicles will will carry children to Pilikula. After the children alight in front of the entrance plaza, the vehicles will return to the main road for parking as per the directions of the police and will be allowed to return to the entrance plaza only after they receive a call from the respective teachers. Drinking water facility and lunch for drivers has been arranged at the entrance of the plaza at the food counter.

Registration: There will be seven counters for registration and volunteers will collect the letters from the teachers.

Entrance for Children: The children can simultaneously enter into Pilikula through nine entry points. They can collect ice candies and coupons to participate in activities like Tharamandal/3D shows/Zoo entry/amusement activities/photo session (any activity) and collecting mask/cap /gift.

The procession will start at 10 am from the entrance arch to the zoo circle. The inaugural programme will be held at 11 am.

To avoid confusion and chaos, the children will have to proceed through Pilikula’s various centres in the order as follows: Science Centre, Zoo circle, Amphitheater, Traditional Santhe (market), Urban Haat Field (Children can participate by surrendering the coupon), Arboretum and Botanical Museum. Only children are allowed to participate in the activities, they will not be allowed inside the Boating Garden. Free lunch will be provide for all children and volunteers. 15 + 3 additional counters have been set up for food.

Toilets facilities are available at 7 places – at the entrance plaza, Science Centre, Zoo circle, Amphitheater, Urban Haat Complex, opposite to administrative office (only for girls) and the administrative office.

DC Ibrahim also said that the children do not know the life in rural areas because parents drop and pick them up from school by vehicle or school bus. The present generation do not know rural life and they have adopted flat culture. We want the children to know the rural life, tradition and culture, he added.

District Health officer Dr Ramakrishna said that 4 doctors including pediatrics from Fr Muller Hospital, Yenepoya and KHEMA hospital will be present at the venue on November 21 and on November 22, doctors and nurses from Fr Muller, KMC and AJ Hospital will be present at the venue for emergency. There will be 108 ambulance from the government department. Police and RTO will also be deployed at the entrance of the venue.
