Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim held a press meet at his office here on May 11.
Addressing the mediapersons DC Ibrahim said that on May 17, we are holding a fish carnival at the Pilikula Nisargadhama. This is a golden opportunity for the fish lovers to take part in the carnival.
To make this Carnival more interesting and attract more people, we will be organizing angling competition. The registration fee for angling will be Rs 100. Whoever catches the biggest fish will be the winner.
Fishes from the Pilikula Nisargadhama pond such as Katla, Rohu, and local fish will be auctioned. The event will be held for the public through out the day. The Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation will sell fish products such as Pomfret, King fish, mackerel, Prawns, Squids and other fresh fish.
A fish food festival will also be held and fresh fish fry, fish masala, fish kabab and other fish delicacies will be available for sale.
The fisheries college will hold fishing related exhibition and workshop on the occasion. Exhibition of ornamental fishes will also be held.
Exhibition of local fresh fruits and vegetables ‘Vasanthosava’, will be also held in the coming days.
Joint director Fisheries college Ganapathi Bhat, Dr K V Rao, Director Pilikula Nisargadhama Prabhakar Sharma and Jayaprakash Bhadary were also present.
