Speaking on the occasion, DC Ibrahim said that the main objective of the “Vasanthotsava” is to familiarize the younger generation with nature. “Many of our fruits like the jackfruit have been neglected. We take them for granted and the younger generation is moving away from nature towards modern gadgetry. We are eager to buy fruits only when we are in the malls, at high prices, but neglect the ones growing right in our backyard. We have to bring awareness among everyone about these fruits and plants, especially kids and help them re-connect with nature. An event calender for next year is being made for Pilikula Nisargadhama and it will have atleast one festival or event every month to bring about awareness on various topics.” The DC, on behalf of the district administration, extended the invitation for the festival to everyone.
The Vasanthotsava festival will be held on 24 May from 10 am to 5 pm. It will feature a variety of fruits including traditional delicacies. There will be exhibition cum sale of fruits and traditional food.
