Mangaluru: Plan to Kill Builder Fails, Raju aka Japan Manga Arrested

Mangaluru: In connection with the attempt to murder case of Lancy D’Souza, three people have been arrested by the CCB police, said Police Commissioner S Murugan in a press meet held at his office here, on September 21.

The arrested are Choni alias Keshav Poojary (25) from Ullal, Prasad alias Pachu (24), Mogaveera Patna and Rakshith alias DK (20), a resident of Kapikad, Bolar.

The above three in their quest for revenge, attempted to kill Lancy D’Souza (32), a resident of Santosh Nagar, Ullal on September 10, when he was returning home by his two-wheeler.

In another case, the murder of a builder in Mangaluru was planned by Raju aka Japan Manga (24). Raju’s murder attempt failed and he was arrested by the CCB police. The search is on for his associates.

“This month, we have cracked 19 cases and arrested 22 persons, we have recovered valuables worth Rs 60,91,500 from their possession. Now, during Ganesh Chaturthi festival, as processions are going on, many criminals are waiting to create problems. We have taken 120 persons into our custody so far and under Section 107, 109 and 110 of CRPC, we have taken a bond and surety. We have taken all the measures to ensure peace during the celebrations. Criminals who are trying to create communal violence will be taken into custody and strict action will be initiated against them. The CCB police have been working round the clock to identify such criminals, they will be rewarded for their bravery,” he said.

When asked about Raju aka Japan Manga, Murugan said that Raju is not associated with any overseas or underworld criminals. He is from Kavoor and four cases were registered against him earlier – Prashanth murder case in Paldane under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru Rural police station (2013), Murder attempt case in Barke station (2013), dacoity in Suratkal and murder attempt case in Kasargod (2014).

DCP Shantharaju and Sanjeev N Patil were also present.
