“Nimma bayge mann haak beku, nivu yella mann haki gundi tumbta iddeera” which means, “Mud should be put into your mouths as you are filling potholes with mud” as said by CM Siddaramaiah to two Bengaluru City chief engineers for fixing potholes with mud.
Mangaluru: While the City is on the verge of becoming a “Smart City”, we need “Smart” contractors who can do the development/construction/road repair work right, using their common sense-for example, throwing excess mud to fill dilapidated roads/potholes is not a Smart idea. By doing this they are only making the existing pothole menace more worse. When couple of engineers had done the same way to fix the potholes in Bengaluru, during a meeting on Bengaluru’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reportedly had lost his temper after two Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief engineers denied responsibility for potholes near Cauvery Theatre Junction. He apparently told them they are not fit for the job and that the mud used to fill potholes should be put into their mouth.
This report is regarding the pathetic condition of the road (both sides) near Bendore-well junction-few weeks ago the whole stretch of the road was dilapidated with potholes, some so deep, two-wheelers were losing balance and falling on the road. But recently the MCC has done such a bad job by filling the potholes with excess soil/mud- the potholes have become “Mud Humps”, which has been slowing traffic. The road which was bad with potholes has now become much more worse than before with all these “Mud Humps”. How stupid one could be to fill the potholes with so much excess of mud, which is causing lots of inconveniences, and quite hazardous to the motorists.
That’s Not Smart!’-Another thing which is not “Smart” is unloading sand, jelly stones and other road construction materials on the road which takes half the portion of the road- for example drainage work on Arya Samaj road and Kadri Kambla Rd is in such a mess with sand, concrete blocks, jelly stones etc scattered on most part of the road has become very inconvenient for motorists.
It’s been a nightmare for motorists traveling on these both roads, and during peak hours there will be traffic congestion. Only if the construction workers could move the sand, jelly stones etc to the side of the road, it would be easy for motorists to pass without any hassles- but no one cares about it.
Oh well, we need “Smart Engineers”, “Smart Contractors”, “Smart Laborers” working under the MCC, if we want Mangaluru to be a “Smart City”–if not it will be a “Dream Not Come True?”
Look at the last picture. There is Garbage truck without lLcence Plate. There are few of these vehicles, and are in operation. Suppose if one of them gets in Accident, how any one can find the right vehicle which got involved in accident. I have notified authorities regarding this problem. Another sign of Smartness with Corruption.
