Mangaluru: Prasad Art Gallery organised an art competition to commemorate the 20th year of the organisation.
Several kids, escorted by their parents, had come to witness the event and participate in the competition with a blank canvas and the essential tools in hand.
The installation ceremony began with a prayer. Jagannath Shetty Bala (President, DK Working Journalists’ Union), Praveen Punchitaya (Installation sculpture artist from Kasaragod), K Koti Prasad Alva (Director, Prasad Art Gallery) and Ganesh Somayaji (Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi) were present on the dais.
Anand Padmanaba Rao welcomed the guests and the gathering. He gave a brief introduction of the guests and spoke on the background theme (a spider’s web) of the stage. He said that nature has been a source of inspiration for humans in every field.
Jagannath Shetty Bala inaugurated the programme by unveiling a spider along with the other dignitaries on the dais. He later spoke on the occasion and congratulated the art gallery on the completion of its 20 years.
Addressing the gathering Praveen Punchitaya explained how to make installation art. He urged the kids to make use junk to bring out something creative. He also explained the meaning of some of the installation sculptures that were on display in the venue.
Dinesh Holla delivered the vote of thanks. Anand Padmanaba Rao compered the programme. This was followed by the art competition.
