Mangaluru: The renovated Pediatrics Ward was inaugurated at KMC Attavar here on 14 January 2014.
Dr P N Krishnamurthy, retd. senior Pediatrician, inaugurated the renovated OPD by cutting the ribbon. A traditional lamp was thereafter lit by Dr P N Krishnamurthy along with the dean of KMC, Dr M Venkatraya Prabhu and other senior staff.
Addressing the mediapersons, Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent, said, “We have renovated the Outpatient Department (OPD) for Pediatrics to improve our services that are provided in the Pediatric Department.”
Dr Shantharam Baliga, Professor and Head of Pediatrics Department KMC, said that as progress is made, the needs of the children and the expectations of the families will be more. “With more nuclear families, the care at every level for outpatients needs to improve. Keeping that in mind, we have made this OPD very child friendly so that the child feels very comfortable. The ambiance itself is such that it will help children recover from illness. We have a child guidance clinic, immunization room and other services to cater for the needs of the child. The thrust is mainly to make the unit very child friendly.”
Dr Nutan Kamath, Professor and Unit Head of Pediatrics Department KMC, said, “This renovated OPD has been made extremely child friendly and we strive within the best of our ability to make the children healthy as well as educate them to remain healthy.”
The renovated OPD contains a Child Guidance Clinic, Class rooms, an Immunization Room and other rooms to improve the service experienced by the outpatients.
