Mangaluru: It is a newly paved road with concrete and has heavy traffic flow in the heart of the city, Unfortunately the margin of the road opposite Moti Mahal Hotel has caved in due to the recent rains. The Road edge is not supported with reinforcement and is just loose soil.
The road margin is also dangerously unguarded with out barriers and the vehicles ply up to the very edge of the concrete motorway. At night a sudden turn or slip of a wheel could get a vehicle in trouble leading to tumble into the empty land. Pedestrians walking on the side of the road at night especially during monsoons risk a fall in an attempt to give way to approaching vehicles.
The Mud wall supporting below the concrete road has given way and the concrete road above is not properly supported. The weight of the vehicles running above will definitely lead to cracking up of the unsupported concrete very soon.
It seems City corporation is neither worried of the safety of the drivers nor the longevity of the road. Why do we need to wait for such situations, is it not possible to prevent this with remedial measures and foresighted planning?
Hope the relevant concerned authorities take notice of this stretch and start remedial measures before the onset of the Monsoon.
