Mangaluru: Sahyadri College Celebrates Eighth College Day

Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management celebrated its eighth College Day in the Campus. Neil Rodrigues, Senior Project Manager, Infosys Ltd., Mangaluru, was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was honoured and happy to be a part of the College Day celebrations. In his thought-provoking speech he said that a lot of change is taking place all around the world; change that is good as well as bad. It is up to us to decide what change to embrace. He also said that technology too is advancing at a rapid pace and it is up to every engineer present on this occasion to use the right technology and to plan their projects where it will be beneficial to the society at large. He wished the students and the institution well in the future.

Dr Antony A J., Vice-Principal read out the report for the academic year 2014-15 and highlighted the many achievements and accolades received by the College. He laid out the future plans for the College especially the thrust given to research and development and the setting up of the nanoscience lab and the Fablab exclusively for the students. He also declared that in the coming year, the Chairman, Dr Manjunath Bhandary has earmarked Rupees fifty lakhs for student research projects. In his motivational speech, he spurred the students on to achieve greater heights. He thanked the Chairman, Dr Manjunath Bhandary for his constant support and his far-reaching vision that has made Sahyadri Educational Institutions what it is today.

Prof. Umashankar B S., Dean Academic in his presidential remarks praised the students and the faculty for their hard work and dedication. He said that change is going to happen in future for which students have to be ready. He further highlighted the importance of projects and research and going forward, the institution will become one of the best in the field.

Academic toppers of each semester and Best Outgoing Students of each branch were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Gautham J Shetty, President, Student Council welcomed the gathering and Royston D’Souza, Semester VIII, Mechanical Engineering delivered the vote of thanks. Shravya, Semester IV, Computer Science & Engineering was the Master of Ceremonies. The Trustees, Deeksha Bhandary, the Management, other dignitaries, the HoDs, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students were present on the occasion. Students showcased their talent in a scintillating cultural programme all through the day.
