Mangluru: A sand-laden mini tipper rolled over while unloading sand near Nanthur Bus Stand here, on July 23.
According to the driver of the mini tipper, while he was unloading the sand near the Nanthur bus stand, the load suddenly shifted to one side. This resulted in the truck rolling over. Luckily, the driver sustained only minor injuries.
Recently, four lorries were seized by the Pandeshwar police for transporting sand illegally. During the rainy season, it is breeding time for fish and if sand is extracted, it will affect the breeding of the fish. Keeping the pros and cons in mind, the district administration has put a ban on sand extraction for three months from June to August in the CRZ area.
The truck was lifted using a JCB, which later arrived at the spot. It is learnt that the sand was brought from Adyar for the construction work of a building at Nanthur.
