Pan Asian Food Festival is a one-stop destination for Asian Food Lovers featuring oriental flavours prepared by Master Chefs in a live and interactive environment. The Gateway All Day (GAD)- a refreshing new all day dining experience, focusing on international flavors and taste at Hotel Taj Gateway, which brings the wealth of knowledge from the House Chefs and their age old tradition in cooking style towards wellness and wholesome food preparation is now the bespoke destination for the most thrilling flavours from the Orient, as Pan Asian Food Festival takes you through a culinary sojourn of the Far East region’s most loved cuisines. Savour the mysteries of Asia and explore your way through China, Japan, Korea and Thailand and indulge in fine Eastern dining at its best.

From varieties of soups, salads, authentic and traditional oriental delicacies and desserts, Pan Asian Food Fest is definitely a good option for Food lovers with penchant and openness for trying out new styles and lovers of oriental cuisine will find this festival to be a good option. Some of the fiery dips which accompany the food may also please the food lovers. To go along with the food, you can sip on a white wine based Sangria. Chef Subash Chettri hailing from Darjeeling in Northern West Bengal, is in-charge of the famous Sian restaurant at Gateway Hotel Ernakulum-Kerala., while Chef Pramod Karki from Nepal, is a team member of the Sian Kitchen-Gateway hotel Ernakulam. They have been both invited to the The Gateway hotel Mangalore to flawlessly accomplish a Pan Asian food festival.

Speaking to mangalorean.com, Chef Subash Chettri explained in detail about the Korean cuisine saying, ” Korean cuisine is extremely simple and flavorful. The Koreans eat a lot of vegetables – both fresh and fermented. Cabbage, yellow beans and radish are some of the popular vegetables in Korea. Among meat, Pork is the most popular (though this festival does not showcase pork dishes) followed by beef (Beef also is not featured in this Food fest). Korea is surrounded by sea on three sides, and the long coastline ensures that a lot of seafood goes into their menu, especially prawns, fish and squids. The spices used are mainly sesame seeds, soya, bean paste, garlic, ginger and red chillies.”

The vast array of starters and main courses lined up on the other side. Kimchi is another highlight of Korean cuisine. Apart from Korean food, you can try the Thai Chicken green curry or Cantonese Style Asian greens or the Japanese Veg Maki or Seafood Shushi. Other items featured in the Fest menu is Soup-Manchow thong (veg); Tom kha (sea food soup). Starters-Chicken chives dumpling,Korean fish sticks,Stuffed mushroom with green chives,Crispy basil scented tofu with tangy spicy drizzle (Hot garlic dip/ginger scallion/chilly mustard /Momo dip). Salads-Som Tom (raw papaya salad), Kimchi (cabbage salad),Glass noodle salad, Crazy horse (prawn shushi),veg maki, Crazy horse (prawn shushi), Sprouts salad with veg, Pickled vegetables, Bread basket, Grissini, Lavash . The Main course features-Chicken Thai green curry, Sea food with XO sauce, Cantonese style Asian greens, Spicy corn cakes in tobanjan chilly, Vegetable in mango chilly pickle and Nan jan( Thai style potato). Among Rice and noodles, there is Chow lo mien (veg noodles), Golden egg fried rice, Chin foan (Steamed Rice). And if you still have place for some delicious desserts, feast on Toffee apple, Darsan, Dry ginger pudding (hot), Basil panacotta, Cashew gojja, Moong dal halwa and cut fruits.

Overall, this food fest will be a very interesting experience. Pan Asian food has subtle flavours and uses a lot of fermented ingredients, and some of the sauces and dips are fiery. Chef Subash and his assistant Pramod have researched a lot to ensure that the best dishes of the cuisine has been showcased at the festival. Both these Chefs have meticulously prepared the dishes under the supervision of Executive Chef Sinu Vijayan of Hotel Taj Gateway-Mangaluru to bring out the best of the Pan Asian Cuisine featured in the Fest..
