Magaluru: The School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya held their Annual Sports Meet at the police ground Pandeshwar here on January 31.
The guests were given a guard of honour at the entrance by the college band. The sports meet began with an invocation. The Director of School of Roshni Nilaya Dr Philomena D’Souza inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the sports flag and freeing the doves.
The sports torch was brought to the ground by the athletes and handed over to Dr Philomena D’Souza who declared the sports meet open. Students from every class presented a colourful March past on the occasion.
Sports secretary Iris Martis administered the oath to the participants.
Addressing the gathering Dr Philomena said that sports and games are important to all of us to stay healthy and physically fit.
A grand pyramid was formed by the students. The teams from BA, BSW, MSW, M.Sc Counselling Psychology and M.Sc Criminology participated in the sports meet.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by Dean Post graduate department Dr Rameela Shekar during the valedictory function.
The flag was lowered by Dr Rameela who then handed it over to the physical director Flossy Rayappan. President of the Student council Aishwarya delivered the vote of thanks.
