He further said that in the evening, there will be a cultural programme which will be held at the Kadri park.

Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said that this time, the procedures which the State Rajyotsava Selection Committee follows, should be followed in the district. “No lobbying should be done. Last year, a person refused to receive the award due to lobbying. This year, it should not be repeated.” The DC also said that the persons who are known to the society through their deeds should be awarded. “Sometimes, the person who receives the award is not known to anyone. We have to stop that practice,” he added.

Activist Hanumanth Kamath said that sometimes the educationist award goes to a person who is running an education institution but does not really deserve it. While selecting the awardees, we have to select them based on their achievements and not because of their wealth.

DC Ibrahim instructed the Rajyotsava selection committee to follow the rules while selecting the awardees and avoid lobbying.

President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, MCC Commissioner Dr H N Gopalkrishna and others were also present.
