Mangaluru: The Pandeshwar police have arrested a woman who was working as a part time maid at a house in Suvarna Lane, Kankanady along with her husband at Nittuvalli Dange Park, Davangere here on September 3.
The arrested have been identified as Parvati (28) and Puttaraju (42), natives of Dange Park Lenin Nagar, Nittuvalli road, Davanagere.
On August 31, Shankari Rai, a resident of Suvarna Lane, Kankanady filed a complaint in the Pandeshwar police station stating that her gold and diamond ornaments, worth Rs 48,40,000/- which was kept in her dressing table, were missing. Based on her complaint, the police were on the look out for the maid who was working part-time from three months at her house and was missing since the day Shankari lost her gold and diamond ornaments.
The police visited her rented house in Bajal, where the owner of the house said that she had left the house on August 30 and had not given her proper address in Davanagere.
The police went to Davangere and found Parvati hiding at her relatives house. They arrested Parvati and her husband Puttaraju and recovered the stolen gold and diamond ornaments from their possession.
Parvati and Puttaraju have been working in Mangaluru from the past 15 years. They were in the habit of working short term and changing houses without giving their proper address.
The operation was carried out under the able guidance of police commissioner S Murugan, DCP of Law and Order K M Shantharaj and DCP of Crime Dr Sanjeeva M Patil by ACP R R Kalyan Shetty, Pandeshwar police inspector Dinaker Shetty and their team which arrested the accused. PSI Mohammed Sherif, Ananth Murdeshwar, Vishwanath, Gangadhar, Dhanajay, Sathyanarayan, Sashidhar Shetty, Nutan Kumar, Pradeep Kumar Rai, Chandrashekar, Purushotham, Sunil Kumar, Vishwanath, Sharath Kumar, Vaishali, Zarina, Manoj Kumar and Sunil Pereira also participated in the operation.
