Mangaluru: Talent Research Foundation (TRF) celebrated its 10th anniversary by organizing Seva Utsav 2016 at the Town Hall here, on January 15.
On account of the celebrations, a walkathon of ‘Duff’ students was held from the Police Commissioner’s office to the Town Hall. The walkathon was flagged off by DySP Basheer Ahmed. The TRF flag was hoisted and Dua was recited by Khazi of Krishnapura, Ibrahim Musliyar.
Speaking on this occasion, the Khazi said, “There is no age or question of money when one has to perform any service. One need not be an officer, leader or a religious head to serve the society.”
Seva Utsav 2016 was inaugurated by the Khazi of Dakshina Kannada, Al-Haj Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar. Ahmed Musliyar said, “I have been a Khazi for two years now and on many occasions, I have had the opportunity to work along with TRF. I have visited many poor families and have managed to help them through TRF. I will give my constant support to TRF.” He said that TRF was doing a wonderful job of preserving the Islamic culture by teaching the art of Duff.
Programme Co-ordinator of TRF, Mohammed UB welcomed the gathering. Advisor of TRF Mohammed Rafique in his key-note address explained the various social schemes the organisation is taking up. TRF has several social schemes like, back to school, self employment training, scholarships, construction of homes for the less fortunate, electric connection to households, assistance, petty shops & grocery items to physically challenged, cleanliness drives, promotion of Islamic culture, awards to achievers, assistance for marriage of Muslim women above the age of 30 and other schemes.
“I am very happy that some students come to us for their PhD studies. We plan to start a coaching centre for competitive exams,” Rafique said.
As a part of the celebration ‘Payana,’ a book on the 10 year journey of TRF was released by Chairman of DK Wakf Advisory Committee, SM Rasheed and handed over to the Member of Karnataka State Wakf Board, Y Mohammed Kunhi. The book contains several poems, articles on the Muslim community too.
MUDA Chairman, Ibrahim Kodijal said that to develop the world people have to be good and TRF is actively serving the people. Government had launched welfare schemes for minorities, but the Muslim community was not making full use of it. TRF and other such organisations have helped the community to develop. “Allah loves those who love the poor. The rich are indeed helping the poor. The community has given the people institutions like Yenepoya, Bearys and healthcare by Kanachur Hospital,” he added.
Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion. The inaugural function was followed by a Duff competition. Seva Utsav 2016 is a three day event and will have Swabhiman, A motivational drive for the differently abled, Talent Quest 2016 and Get Together Programme on January 16. A Day with Real Heroes followed by a valedictory ceremony which will be held on January 17.
Mohammed Jaseem delivered the vote of thanks. Vice President of TRF, Saijuddin Bajpe compered the programme.
President of Muslim Central Committee, KS Mohammed Masood; Founder and Chairman of TRF, Abdul Rauf Puthige, chairman Vishwas Bava builders Rauf Puthige and other dignitaries were also present.
