Mangaluru: District Minister In-charge, B Ramanath Rai held a press meet at the Congress Office here, on May 14.

Addressing the mediapersons, Ramanath Rai said that the state government has introduced various schemes in favour of the poor, such as distributing free rice to BPL card holders, Khseera Bhagya scheme for school children, Housing facilities for SC/ST and many other programmes for the welfare of the poor people. “BJP leaders are alleging that the Congress is against the poor people by bringing the 9/11 single site issue but the truth is that the Congress government has brought relaxation in the 9/11 single site regulations.”

He further said that Panchayat Raj had been introduced during the time of Rajiv Gandhi. “The goals of the RGPSA are to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of Panchayats and the Gram Sabhas and also to enable democratic decision-making and accountability in Panchayats and promote people’s participation. There was strong opposition from the BJP to implement the act, but the Congress finally succeeded in passing it. Now, the BJP has started to interfere in the affairs of the Panchayat.”

He also said that the BJP criticises programmes which are being implemented for the welfare of the AHINDA community. “There is nothing wrong in providing justice to the deprived. The Chief Minister’s dream is to make the state hunger-free. He is always thinking of the welfare of the poor and the deprived and working to provide social justice to them. Whereas, before coming to power Modi had assured to bring back the black money stashed in Swiss banks and credit Rs 15 lakh in every citizen’s account, but he has failed in his promise. The state government is giving a loan of upto Rs 3 lakh to the poor with 0% interest, and upto Rs 10 lakh with 3% interest to build houses. The Congress is not with the ‘suit-boot’ people but we are with the poor and the needy.”

“With all the development work, the Congress party will surely win with clear majority in the forthcoming Gram Panchayat elections.”

MLA Moideen Bava, MUDA chairman Ibrahim Kodijal,  Mayor Jacintha Alfred, deputy mayor Purushotham, Shashidar Hegde, Ashok D and others were also present.

You don’t do any justice to the country or your State nor do any justice to the population by handing out freebies and see the poor remain as poor for rest of their lives. Instead, you should be helping the poor and needy to help themselves in getting proper education and decent jobs that would put them out of poverty and the education they get will help them determine the gimmicks of politics and decide on the right candidate to vote for. Taxing the hardworking people and handing out to poor will only help your party in the short run,… Read more »

Freebies have destroyed our society.
Because of the freebies these days it is very hard to find causal workers..
Small farmers in our district have suffered serious losses because of the nonavailability of casual workers.
Most of the small farmers have stopped to cultivation because of the high cost and nonavailability of casual workers.
Freebies will make our society lazy and unproductive.

Krishna is the RSS mouth piece on this forum.

RSS says our society is destroyed by the welfare schemes of Congress Party intended to ensure that the poor and hungry do not go to bed starving.

RSS wants “casual labour cheap” by starving the rural agricultural labourers.

RSS wants to ensure that the “lazy and unproductive people” of India must rather die than live on government doles!

Ha, ha, ha ……… Hee, hee, hee ……… Who is making these accusations. A man who shameless admires the Gandhi family and the Congress and is not ready to admit that they, like anyone else, are mortals and capable of committing sins, is making this immature accusation.

What about you? Before calling a person “ugly”, kindly look at your face in the mirror.

Nelson Lewis does not know the basics. I have repeatedly stated on this forum that I am a Congressman. He asks me “before calling a person ***ugly***what about you, kindly look at your face in the mirror”. Nelson, why do I need mirror to verify an accepted fact? Yes, I am a proud Congressman. Congress is ugly to you to whom “RSS- Modi is beautiful” By his above comments, Nelson suggests I am “Ugly”. Nelson is a person who said earlier on this forum, “for girls pimple looks more beautiful than a dimple”! This is his admitted caliber. One can… Read more »

Mr. B.N. Pai, I do not mind if anyone is proud Congressman, proud BJP, proud Communist, proud Marxist or anything else for the matter, but he should speak the facts. You are an ardent Congress admirer and will not admit that they have done wrongs since 15.08.1947. What have you to say about the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose controversy that has cropped up, where your Chacha Nehru’s name is being dragged? However, you are a blind supporter of Congress, even when they have been involved in scandals, frauds and other irregularities. Have you ever admitted that Congress has done anything… Read more »

Mr. Nelson Lewis, having commented on Chacha Nehru about Subhas Chandra Bose episode, you were fair enough to admit that Nehru’s name was “being dragged”. That speaks volumes about the guilty intentions of the draggers!

Subhas Chandra Bose died in 1945, when the British Empire were ruling the roost in India. Nehru was a non-entity with regards to the death of Bose or the so called INA Treasure in Taiwan or any foreign soil, for well above two more years, till he took control from the Empire. Accuse him to your hearts content, for you are prejudiced!
