Mangaluru: The Urva Police have arrested six persons from the Sangh Parivar in connection to a kidnapping case here, on May 7.

The arrested are Purushotham (bus driver), Yathish, Nitin, Laxman, Kishore and Santosh.

According to the police, on May 6, Sharada (17) (name changed) was travelling with Sadiq from Dharwad to Udupi. When the driver and the conductor of the bus overheard the conversation between Sharada and Sadiq, they came to know that both were from different faiths.

The driver of the bus did not stop the bus in Udupi. Instead, they brought Sharada and Sadiq to Mangaluru and assaulted Sadiq. Later, the couple were handed over to the Urva police.

Sharada’s sister’s friend Mohantesh filed a case of kidnapping against the Parivar activists in Urva police station. Based on his complaint, the Urva police have arrested six youth of the Sangh Parivar.  Sharada’s parents also filed a  missing persons complaint in Dharwad police station.

On May 7, a number of Hindu activists gathered in front of the Urva Police Station demanding the release of the arrested youth.

The arrested will be produced before the court at 3:00 PM.
