Mangaluru South Police Arrest youth in Gold Theft
Mangaluru: The South police have arrested the accused in connection with the house theft of Prabhakar N Punja at the Service bus-stand and recovered 119 grams gold worth Rs 3,15,000 from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Chandrashekhar (21), a native of Gadag, at present residing in Kadri.
According to the complaint, filed by Prabhakar N Punja, the gold ornaments were stolen in between February 13, 9:00 pm to February 14, 7:00 am, by his servant Rajani and her friend Chandrashekhar.
Mangaluru South police Inspector Belliyappa, investigating the case, on getting reliable information, took Chandrashekhar into custody on November 23, from the Mangaluru Service Bus-stand. During interrogation, it was revealed that the stolen gold ornaments were sold to various jewellery shops. The South police have recovered all the gold ornaments worth Rs 3.15 Lakh from various shops and seized a motorbike worth Rs 40,000 from his possession.
The operation was carried out by the police inspector Belliyappa along with his team.
