Mangaluru: A speech and hearing impaired SSLC student of KHEP High School in Kadra (Karwar), BN Shivayogi has come out in flying colours in the SSLC examinations, by securing 96.96 percent. He has scored 99 marks each in Kannada, Hindi, Maths; 121 in English, 95 in Science and 93 in Social science. His achievement has made his mother very proud who was beaming with pride during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club.
Shivayogi was felicitated by members of Karavali Sri Kanyakaparameshwari Arya Vyasya Sanga, a local organization based in the city during the press meet held on 27 May. Addressing the media persons, Honorary president of the Sangha, Kubeer Setty said, ” We are very proud of this young man from our community. His achievement will now send a message to other children/youth with disabilities that disability will not come in the way while achieving success”.
Also speaking during the press meet, President of the Sangha, Dr N Udaya Kiran said, ” Although Shivayogi is suffering from 71% of disability, but if surgery is performed on him by doctors there could be 80% chance of success. But the surgery will cost around Rs 12 lakhs. If any medical organizations or doctors come forward to help in the surgery on this talented student, we would be very grateful.”
Also speaking during the press meet, Shivayogi’s mother, Nagarathna, a PG graduate said, ” Me and my husband Nagaraj, have toiled hard to help our son to overcome his disability. Our dedication, support, and constant care towards our son has surely helped him achieve success. We had admitted Shivayogi to the Rotary West Institute for Dumb and Deaf Child for three year training before admitting him to a regular/normal school. The intensive training at the institute had provided our son to read the lip movement and thus overcome his problem. As parents we are proud of our son and his great achievement, and we hope that he will come out in flying colors in his further education”.
A felicitation program is also planned by the Sangha in Bengaluru for Shivayogi in the nearest future, where funds collected will be given to him for his medical expenses. Surendra CH (Vice President), BP Girish ( Gen. Secretary), and Aravinda Danti (Treasurer) of the Sangha were also present during the press meet.
