Mangaluru: The state vice president of SRS Kumar Malemar speaking to mangalorean.com said that the Sri Rama Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik was arrested on November 12 as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents.
“After the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, untoward incidents were reported in the state. In Madikeri, a VHP leader died. Another stabbing case was reported in Vagga Bantwal Taluk. After the killing of a Hindu youth Harish, the district administration imposed Section 144 for a day and later extended it till November 15.”
On November 12, Muthalik was arrested in Hassan and sent to Bellari Jail. State vice president Kumar Malemar further said, “If Pramod will not be released by November 14, we will intensify our protest.”
When asked the reason for Muthalik’s arrest, Kumar said that due to some untoward incidents being reported in the state, the police have taken Muthalik to custody as a precautionary measure and sent him to Bellari Jail. “We are expecting his release by evening of November 14, if not we will intensify our protest.”
