The Valedictory of 38th Series – Seminar and Exhibition of Student Project Programme (SPP) at Sahyadri Campus

Mangaluru: The valedictory of 38th Series Seminar and Exhibition of Student Project Programme (SPP) organised by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) was held at the Sahyadri College campus, Adyar.

The programme began with an invocation by Pramila and team. Dr U M Bhushi, Principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management welcomed the gathering. Dr S G Sreekanteswara Swamy, Executive Secretary of KSCST in his opening remarks expressed his gratitude to the chairman and the principal for successfully organizing the exhibition in the campus.

Guest of honour Prof. Lakshman Nandagiri (Dept. of applied mechanics and hydraulics, NITK, Surathkal) called upon the students to be more practical and mentioned about the flipped classes and e-classes. The Chief Guest Dr L V Muralikrishna Reddy (President, Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata) complimented KSCST for igniting the young minds and also encouraged the students to take up projects which serve mankind. N Lakshman (Director- Technical, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company Limited) spoke about activities of KSCST and projects taken by the students and shared his profound knowledge.

Manjunath Bhandary (Chairman, Bhandari Foundation) in his presidential speech thanked NITK for the constant support and also KSCST for organizing such an event which has attracted participants from all over the state.

The overall championship award for the 38th series of SPP was bagged by NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, Karkala. The best project of the year (Seminar Project) under the Natural Resource stream was bagged by Civil Engineering branch of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management for the project titled ‘Feasibility study and Prototype design for Biogas production in an Engineering college from Canteen food waste’. The project was carried out by Abhith G, Renitha G D’souza and Shrikalpa P, guided by Dr Gautham J and Rashmishree K N.

Dr Rathishchandra R Gatti delivered the vote of thanks which concluded the 38th Series Seminar And Exhibition Of Student Project Program.

Best Performing College Award: 2014-15, 38th Series of SPP – The Best Performing College Award was bagged by NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, Karkala.

The decision to give the award was based on parameters of the projects demonstrated by students such as: Projects invited and sanctioned, Participation in Seminar and Exhibition projects, Project Presentation, Projects Awarded, and Innovation and creativeness in the concept.
