Mangaluru : With a Vision towards becoming an Institution for all round development of studies and striving for excellence in Education; and with a Mission to become a Centre of competence, Suraj Educational and Charitable Trust; and with a motto ” Education-The Primary Link with our Future”, which has already promoted Suraj International Higher Primary School; Jnana Deepa High School; launched the new Suraj PU College on Thursday, 16 April 2015 at Mudipu.
Suraj Educational and Charitable Trust was established in the year 2008 and registered under Indian Trust Act of 1980 with an objective of promoting Rural Education. The Trust manages the Suraj International Higher Primary school; and Jnanadeepa High School; and very soon the Suraj PU College, is private in nature and unaided. The campus spread over a sprawling 12 acres of land has unique and silent study environment. The Schools/College are located in the remote rural area of Kurnad-Mudipu in Bantwal Taluk, wherein the popular of surrounding areas is totally deprived of education.
The Institution right from the day of its establishment has achieved distinction- be it in imparting education, in inculcating values, nurturing good conduct and characters in students or in sports, it has achieved a distinct place by its remarkable performance. Credit should go to the Headmistress, teachers and staff and students on this distinction. “Individuals may form communities, but it is institutions alone that can create a nation”- and Suraj institution is no exception. A meaningful, purposeful and constructive value based education is thus provided for overall development of the students motivating them to achieve their goals.
Crossing a milestone of over a decade is a remarkable achievement, that too for an educational institution which has lit the lamp of knowledge in children in and around the rural villages of Mudipu really deserves applaud and commendation. This institution had really made a difference by providing good education and moral values to the students from this rural area, which has affected their attitudes and developed in them the right way of life. The society judges the merit of an educational institution based on the scope provided to the all round development of its students- and Suraj International Higher Primary School and Jnana Deep High School has provided all those facilities- and now with launching of Suraj PU College, the Trust has added yet another milestone in its history of providing education to the rural youth.
The weather was just perfect for a grand celebration-it was hot but not humid as usual. Prior to the formal function, a procession was taken from Mudipu Circle all the way to the College premises, where the institution management, teachers, staff, students, well-wishers and friends joined in the procession. The procession was led by a brass band, dancing dolls, Poornakumbha, Chende group etc- it was all fun through the mile long route, where the students were in full enthusiasm and quite cheerful.
Reaching the school/college premises, Odiyoor Seer Gurudevananda and Daivajna Brahman Mutt in Karki Honnavar seer Sachidananda Jnaneshwar Bharati inaugurated the College, and also the newly constructed School office, while Abusali Kamil Sakhafi of Jumma Masjid in Mudipu launched the College website. The formal function was inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais. Rev Fr Gregory D’souza- parish priest of Mudipu church unfurled the College logo/flag, and the release of “Jnanaspoorthi” publication was done by Brahmacharini Mangalmrutha Chaitanya of Matha Amrruthanandamai Math, Mangaluru.
In his welcome address, Rtn. Dr Manjunath S. Revankar- Chairman of the Trust said, ” It’s my pleasure and privilege to serve as the Chairman of Suraj Education Trust. .. not only because it’s my passion but also because I enjoy the company of my dearly loved students and talented teachers who keep me energized all the time. Suraj Education Trust is not just ONE More school in the already long list of educational institutions but it is ONE school which has made a great difference in its Qualitative journey of over fourteen years. Our children represent our hopes and dreams. As a parent, you certainly want the best for your child and we are indeed happy to be working with you to ensure that they are given the right knowledge to face future challenges. I am glad that so many have you showed up, your support and encouragement means a lot to me. I alone can’t do things happen, we together make things happen and make it successful. Irrespective of caste or religion, Suraj Educational and Charitable Trust will always serve the education needs of a student.”
Sri Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji commending the great work done by Rtn Manjunath Revankar in providing good education to the rural children said, ” These days with education you are basically left out in the society. To live a better life at least a little education will go a long way in the life of a person. Children are future of the Humanity. Every Child should have access to wholesome food, good education and appropriate health care. Since this institution is run without accepting any donations or high fees, the general public can help Manjunath Revankar and his Trust by donating generously to their education funds. You can help a child break from the clutches of poverty and gift the child a future full of hope”.
The Swamiji further said, “Your contribution towards the welfare and education of a child can address issues that promote the overall development of a poor child from education, food, clothing, study material, sports, excursion tours, transport, health care and creating better living conditions for their families in the future.This will be your kindness to make a difference, invest for good cause where your returns are going to be priceless blessings and a feeling of greatness for doing something good for the mankind. Please sponsor as many children as you can. I wish and shower blessings on this institution for its successful growth, and may it reach greater heights in the days and years to come”.
Rtn Manjunath Revankar and his wife were felicitated for their tremendous contribution in the field of education for rural children by the Swamijis, along with other dignitaries on the dais. Speaking during the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also praised the yeoman service rendered by Rtn Manjunath Revankar and his family to the good cause of education in the rural area. Other VIPs also shared their thoughts about the good work of Rtn Revankar. The formal function was followed by entertainment by the school children, also music performance by Naushad and group of Shads Musical World. The inauguration of Suraj PU College was one glittering and pomp extravaganza.

Books are issued twice a week and students can hold two cards or two books at a time. The library and reading room remain open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. To enable students to get hands on training in information technology, the college has set up well – equipped computer labs having the latest hardware and software along with an excellent collection of IT based literature.
