Mangaluru: T-shirts and the Logo of Mangalore Premier League was launched at the Forum Mall, Pandeshwar here, on August 2.
The logo was unveiled by the State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Abhaychandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo and Moideen Bava along with other dignitaries on the dais. An audio CD and T-shirts of MPL 2015 were also released by the dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Abhaychandra Jain said that in Mangaluru, there are a large number of cricket lovers, “This is an opportunity for all cricket lovers to watch Mangalore Premier League matches in their home town. When we were young, we used to listen to the commentary on radio but now cricket lovers have an opportunity to watch the match live.”
He further said that his father was a good Tennis player and started to play cricket later. “He was not only a Tennis player but also played cricket. We are in the modern era where people can watch cricket live.” He congratulated the organizers for their efforts in organizing the Mangalore Premier League in Mangaluru.
J R Lobo congratulated the organizers of Mangalore Premier League for giving an opportunity to budding players. “The Mangalore Premier League will help cricket players to play at the national and international level. Mangaloreans have created history in every field such as education, banking, medical, etc. We have the responsibility to work towards making a cricket stadium in Mangaluru and this is the right time to think about it. With a cricket stadium in Mangaluru, we can hold national level and other cricket matches which will also help to attract tourists to the city,” he said.
MLA Moideen Bava also spoke on the occasion. Organizer Imtiyaz welcomed the gathering. Mahabala Marla, Asif Mohammed and others were also present. Madhu Mailankody compered the programme.
