Mangaluru: The invitations and posters of Hindu Samajotsava were released at the Samajotsava office premises, Bunts hostel here on February 13.
The programme began with an invocation. Adviser of the HS Celebration committee Rajgopal Rai welcomed the gathering. Invitations and the posters were released by former governor of Rotary club Dr Devadas Rai.
Addressing the gathering Dr Devadas said that the Hindu Samjotsava should be a successful one and all Hindus should take part in the programme forgetting their differences. He assured whole hearted support from the Rotary club towards the Samajotsava.
Jagadish Shenava briefed on the programme. To mark the Golden Jubilee of VHP, a vehicle Jatha will be held on February 20. More than 2000 vehicles will take part in the jatha. The Jatha will be flagged off from the Samajotsava office Bunts Hostel which will pass through Kadri Mallikatta – Balmatta – Jyothi circle – Hampankatte – RTC – State Bank – Market Road – Carstreet – NewChitra Talkies Kudroli temple Road – Ladyhill – Lalbagh – PVS Circle and will culminate at Bunts Hostel. On February 15, taluk levelJatha’s will be organized and hundreds of vehicles will take part. On February 20, a vehicle Jatha will be held in Moodbidri.
Dr Veerendra Heggade will preside over the Hindu Samajotsava on March 1. Sadvi Balika Sarashwati will be delivering the keynote address.
Honorary President of Hindu Samajotsava Committee Ganesh Rao said that every Hindu should take part in the samajotsava by forgetting their differences. The Hindu community is one and we have to be united. Every year the Hindu community holdsSamajotsava without any untoward incidents being reported. The district administration and the police department is helping the Celebration committee to carry out the programme smoothly in the district. Our volunteers are working round the clock to make this programme a grand success.
Prof M V Puranik speaking on the occasion said that the Hindu Samajotsava was first started in Mangaluru in the year 1981, so far we have organized 5 Samajotsavas successfully. He further said that the VHP is celebrating its Golden Jubilee and to mark this day we have organized the Hindu Samajotsava. All Hindus should join hands for the success of the programme. Whoever are born in India, are all Hindus, there is no caste, creed and politics. We all are one, Christians and Muslims are also welcomed to take part in the programme. The Bhagvad Flag should fly on every house as it is the symbol, purity, harmony, devotion and peace. The flags should not only fly and shine on Vehicles and temples but they should fly and shine on every house in the district. He also urged the police department and the district administration for their support to make the programme a grand success.
Dinesh Pandeshwar delivered the vote of thanks. President of the Celebration committee Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Shambu Sharma,Vasudev Kottari and Jagdeep Suvarna were also present.
